Discover wines from Andalusia

Andalusia is a historic and distinctive wine region in southern Spain, renowned for its unique fortified wines and strong cultural heritage. Home to some of the country’s oldest wine traditions, the region is best known for producing Sherry style wines with remarkable complexity, aging potential, and identity. The vineyards are primarily located in key areas such as Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and Montilla Moriles. Soils are dominated by albariza, a white, chalky limestone that retains moisture and reflects sunlight, playing a crucial role in grape ripening under the region’s hot, dry climate. Palomino is the principal grape for dry fortified wines, while Pedro Ximénez is used for richer, sweeter styles. Through traditional aging systems such as the solera, Andalusia produces a wide spectrum of wines from fresh, saline Finos and Manzanillas to complex, oxidative Amontillados and Olorosos. These wines are known for their depth, precision, and gastronomic versatility. In recent years, a new generation of producers has begun exploring unfortified wines and terroir-driven expressions, focusing on organic farming and minimal intervention. This evolution is bringing renewed attention to Andalusia as a region of both heritage and innovation. At Origine, we feature Andalusia as part of our premium Spanish selection, highlighting regions that combine tradition, diversity, and authenticity.
