Domaine Mittnacht Wines

Founded in 1958 by brothers André and Louis Mittnacht, this family-run estate cultivates some of the finest vineyards in the commune of Hunawihr, which is classed as being one of France’s most beautiful villages. The family is credited with being one of the early pioneers of the biodynamic movement. The family is a firm believer in the importance of soils that are complete and biologically complex, essential for the production of terroir-driven wines that are filled with elegance. In 1999, the domaine received its official organic certification, one of the very first in Alsace. The estate which is now run by André’s son Marc carries on the founding traditions of Domaine Mittnacht. The use of minimal intervention allows the terroir to tell its story through the wines by using neutral wood and tanks to create wines that are beautiful, delicate, and full of expression. The grapes are harvested when they are balanced. In the cellar, Marc ensures that there is no excessive alcohol and residual sugar as these components would camouflage the wine's freshness and florality - the traits that make wines from Alsace so delicious and unique.
